foodwineuhh.... Its been better than six months since I've posted and man have things changed. First of all, life with ChP (from here on in known as C) has normalized. Though we're not living together, we're a couple with all that implies. As such, this publication will focus less on sex (of the personal variety anyway) but will add other ingredients (music, etc.). I know this sucks for some folks but damn, for the first time in a long time I like pretty much the way everything is going in my life...especially things with C. Ain't gonna fuck it up.
Still restaurantizing a lot. Dinner Monday night at Umami - named for one of the five primary tastes - with TB, a colleague from my last job. (A brief sidebar here...I left my last gig shortly after the company was acquired and took new gig at a large tech company in Silicon Valley. Back to Umami.) This was my second visit and it wasn't bad. They focus on Vietnamese-inspired small plates. I sat at the bar waiting for my buddy and had a glass of wine. The wine list was serviceable and I had a glass of prosecco. TB arrived, we were seated and began ordering. Deciding on sharing small plates we went for Crispy Imperial Rolls with minced pork, wood ears & glass noodles, Beef Skewers, and the Miller Ranch “Shaking Beef” Filet (red onions, mizuna and crispy noodles). For dessert we had Cookie Dough & Ice Cream Sushi. The food was uniformly good and in the case of the dessert, inspired. Given the heritage of the place (owned by the same group that owns Mamacita) I expected nothing but. Near the end of the meal, as the dessert was being served, we looked around the room and noticed that the place was packed with women...mostly young and mostly quite attractive.
My buddy who once lived in SF and now lives in South Beach commented that he'd noticed that there seemed to be many more attractive women throughout the city. Thankfully I couldn't argue the point. My thoughts quickly transitioned to C and I decided to bring her over some dinner...the Imperial Rolls and the Shaking Beef.
I said goodbye to my buddy and headed over to C's place. She lives just a minute or two from Umami and when I got there she was just stepping out of the shower. She was happy to see me and when she saw dinner she realized she was hungry. Working on a personal project she's been putting in long hours after work and sometimes forgets to eat. Having hit the gym hard early and working all day I was pretty exhausted at this point and about 15 minutes later was on 101 headed home.
Bored yet?
g.
Welcome back. =)
